STEAM FAIR FM BROADCASTING NATIONWIDE DURING 2021 SHOW CLOSURE PERIOD

Following the news that , sadly, this year’s Great Dorset Steam Fair has had to be postponed for the second time due to Coronavirus uncertainties, we are delighted to confirm that Steam Fair FM will once again be providing a special online broadcast during the original planned show period, Thursday 26th – Monday 30th August (including the Bank Holiday weekend).c

We were overwhelmed by the tremendous response to last year’s special broadcast, and look forward again to celebrating the “best of the Great Dorset” with even more archive interviews, showground reports, features and “vox pops” from visitors and exhibitors, recorded over the years.

Our aim is to create an extended “bridge” between the 2019 and 2022 live events, re-creating the ‘sounds and smells’ of the World’s largest Steam & Heritage event, together with the greatest Vintage Hits spanning the decades from 1955 – 1996. All you’ll need to add is your own cider!

Say “Hi” in person!

This year we’re offering listeners a chance to voice or record a personal message. Maybe you’d like to share a great memory, or just pass on personal greetings to the friends that you normally meet at the show.

The first way to do this is to create an audio file using your pc, tablet or phone – using the Voice Recorder App on Android, or Voice Memo App on iphone/ipad. You can also use the audio features of Zoom, or audio- only software such as Audacity. Save your recording, and attach the file to an email, sending it to studio@steamfairfm.com.

The second way is simply to call our message line on this number 07856-536867. After the beep, record your message, and we’ll do the rest. Don’t worry about mistakes or pauses, we’ll edit all the audio we receive to make it ready to air!

Whichever method you choose, please make sure you tell us your name, and where you’re from. Tell us if you are attached to one of the sections, or an exhibitor , trader or visitor. What is your special memory? What do you like best about the show? Do you enjoy the radio station? Do you want to send greetings to someone?......these are the kind of things you can include. Maximum duration 1 minute.

Do it soon, to ensure we can get your message into the broadcast, but in any case no later than the cut off date of Friday August 20th . We expect to rotate the messages several times during the 5 day broadcast, but cannot guarantee the actual times. We’ll still be airing lots of your “vox pop” messages recorded live at the show over past years, so listen out for these too!
