STEAM FAIR FM BROADCASTING NATIONWIDE DURING 2021 SHOW CLOSURE PERIOD

Following the news that , sadly, this year’s Great Dorset Steam Fair has had to be postponed for the second time due to Coronavirus uncertainties, we are delighted to confirm that Steam Fair FM will once again be providing a special online broadcast during the original planned show period, Thursday 26th – Monday 30th August (including the Bank Holiday weekend).

We were overwhelmed by the tremendous response to last year’s special broadcast, and look forward again to celebrating the “best of the Great Dorset” with even more archive interviews, showground reports, features and “vox pops” from visitors and exhibitors, recorded over the years.

We’ll be talking to Martin Oliver about his plans for the show, and also giving you an opportunity to phone in your own greetings, messages and memories for the broadcast.

Our aim is to create an extended “bridge” between the 2019 and 2022 live events, re-creating the ‘sounds and smells’ of the World’s largest Steam & Heritage event, together with the greatest Vintage Hits spanning the decades from 1955 – 1996. Although sadly not coming live from Tarrant Hinton, the station sound will be almost exactly the same as in a “normal” show year. All you’ll need to add is your own cider!

The vintage music will include a significant helping of Steam Fair favourites Dr Busker, The Wurzels and others.

How to tune in:

Steam Fair FM’s special online broadcast will be available nationwide via computers, smartphones and smart speakers, tablets, internet radios, smart tvs and in-home streaming services such as Sonos. It will also be available on command through Alexa and Google Play speakers, via the Tune In app.. There will be a pop-up player on this website – details to follow in August!

More information will appear later on this website, and through the GDSF Facebook group.
